09/04/2021

UEC and Eurovision conducted an inspection on the next Road European Championships paths (8-12 September) to evaluate advanced technology solutions for TV broadcasting

With exactly five months to go to the start of the UEC Road European Championships Trentino 2021 – scheduled from September 8th to 12th, 2021, in Trento -, a delegation of UEC (European Cycling Union) and Eurovision performed on Thursday April 8th an in-depth inspection over the routes and the starting and arrival locations, where the road continental titles will be awarded.

The international delegation – led by the new UEC President Enrico Della Casa – was greeted by the whole organizing committee headed by the Trento, Monte Bondone and Valle dei Laghi Tourism Board in close collaboration with Trentino Marketing, the Municipality of Trento and Trento Eventi Sport.

We are confident that going from now to September the pandemic situation will significantly improve – Elda Verones, Director of the Tourism Board, said -. Therefore, we worked together with our guest to pave the best way towards this great event, which didn’t take place last year. Now we want to reboost and get an even greater impact and visibility, marking a new beginning for our territories and the whole tourism in Trentino”.

UEC President Della Casa was satisfied about the inspection: “We were ready for this challenge last year already, now even more – he explained -, we really aim to enjoy an outstanding edition. We expect 45 countries and around 700 athletes to join the event, plus a resounding media coverage from Eurovision that will broadcast Trento’s images everywhere in Europe”.

Television technicians have investigated the feasibility of innovative solutions, which will now undergo further insights together with Trentino Digitale.

Scheduled in Trento from September 8th to 12th, 2021, the European Championships will be held between the Olympic race in Tokyo (Japan) and the World Championships in Leuven (Belgium), in a month filled of great fixtures. All road races will move from the beautiful Piazza Duomo in the centre of Trento, while the time trials courses will start from the MUSE – Sciences Museum in Trento.

The Elite competitions of the UEC Road European Championships Trentino 2021 (time trials and road races) will be broadcasted live on TV in more than 60 European countries.
